Weighing in at just over 4.5 pounds, the PlayStation 3 Superslim lives up to its name, shedding nearly three pounds from the Slim and 6.5 from the original (monstrous) 11-pound console. Sadly, the clean, classy matte finish of the Slim model has been replaced with the glossy, fingerprint-prone plastic that Vita, PSP and first-gen PS3 owners have come to know and loathe. You may not notice the glossy facade at first, however, as the biggest hardware change in the new PS3 is where you insert disc-based media: a top-loading slider gets moved to the left, revealing a space for your brand new copy of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Game of the Year Edition (bundled with the 250GB console).
Aside from being the most notable change to the new PS3, it's ... well, it looks and feels terrible, to put it plainly. Not only is the new design unfriendly to home entertainment centers (where most PS3s reside, we'd argue), but it feels cheap and unstable -- a distinct step down from the previous two models' front-loading tray design.
What's different

The familiar hum of a game console -- from the Harrier jet noise of the original Xbox 360's fans to the nigh-imperceptible din of the last-gen PS3 -- is hard to escape. The new PS3 manages to make approximately zero noise; it is without a doubt the quietest home console we've ever heard (er, not heard, rather). That's likely due to the ubiquity of air vents found all over the machine, not to mention three hardware iterations and years of R&D. An entire horizontal half of the rear is dedicated fan space, and the bottom is framed by openings, giving the internals plenty of space to breathe.

Google targets spam apps, malware and clones in Play Store

Google plans to rid its Android app store of malicious apps, obvious copycats and spam. Big changes to the Google Playdeveloper policies mean that rogue apps will be booted from the shop in September.
In an email to Android developers -- picked up by Android Central -- Google says that its updated policy provides "more detail on the kinds of dangerous products that are not allowed on Google Play."
That includes apps that collect information (such as location or behavior) without the user's knowledge, and apps that cause users to unknowingly download or install stuff from outside of Google Play.
Apps that send text messages or emails without some kind of notification will be against the rules, as they are considered spam apps. Same goes for apps that are primarily designed to drive affiliate traffic to a website.
Google is also restricting the use of names or icons that are confusingly similar to existing system apps -- "to reduce user confusion" -- and restricting in-app purchases to Google Play's proprietary payment system.
Also, developers shouldn't "pretend to be someone else" and must not say that an app is "authorised by or produced by another company or organization if that is not the case".
"We are constantly striving to make Google Play a great community for developers and consumers," Google said in the email. "This requires us to update our policies when we launch new features, like subscription billing, and also when we see unhealthy behaviour, like deceptive app names and spammy notifications."
New apps will be "immediately subject to the latest version of the Program Policy", while current developers will have 30 days to make the necessary changes. After that, any apps that are in violation of the rules will be booted from Google Play.

Temple run

Run Android owners, run! Temple Run, the ridiculously addictive free game that has consumed iOS users since last August, finally made its way to the Android operating system today.
In Temple Run, you're an Indiana Jones doppelganger who can't stop running. Clutching a golden icon in your hands, your goal is to stay out of the clutches of evil eagle-gorilla hybrid monster things (hey, it's a casual game) and avoid obstacles in your path by tilting and swiping your way through levels. Temple Run is far more engaging than Angry Birds or Cut the Rope because because your hero can only run, jump, and slide, but not stop, so the only way you can look away from your screen is by pausing. Sadly, the Android version crashed often enough in my testing to seriously detract from the fun.

Download From Google PlayBecause it's so new, Temple Run was not even among the first ten results to come up in a search in Google Play. Make sure you download the one from Imangi Studios because there are plenty of rip-offs.
Your initial character is Guy Dangerous, a muscular redheaded man running barefoot in ripped threads. He clutches a valuable icon and must run, run, run from a gang of Evil Demon Monkeys. You tilt left and right to turn, swipe up to jump over cracks in the path, or swipe down to slide under tree holes.

The purpose of the game is to score as many points as possible, which would get old fast except that the game's popularity, plus a nifty option to tweet your score, lets you join the smack talk on Twitter. Back in January, Justin Bieber tweeted a screenshot of his high score—9,290,772 on an iOS. Beat that, Android Beliebers.
You can tweak the sensitivity of your gestures on your Android device—a feature that's missing in the iOS version—which makes game play noticeably snappier. You'll want to reduce sensitivity if you're playing on a bumpy ride.
Crisp GraphicsFor such a simple game, the graphics are surprisingly detailed. The setting of the entire game is a foggy moat surrounded by motionless water. Obstacles include mossy rocks, cliffs, burning arches, and wooden docks, and they all look great. In my testing, the game looked much brighter the Galaxy Nexus S than on the iPhone 4, though sharpness wasn't noticeably different.
Coins and Power UpsThe real fun starts when you run through enough of the coins on your path to activate power-ups. Power-ups serve different purposes—the first one you get is a Coin power up, which increases the value of coins you collect. A popular power-up is Invisibility, which lets your character plow through obstacles and effectively eliminates the need to worry about swiping. You can use your coins to buy utilities. A popular one is Resurrect, which lets you immediately restart from where you die, rather than at select save points along your path.
Coins can also be used to change your wallpaper or character. There are seven characters total, and the only differences are in their clothes and gender. You can cheat on coins, if you've got the cash. If you'd rather not devote your life to the game you can buy coins with moolah: US$2 will buy you enough to change your wallpaper and $4 will change your character.
Your Device Pays a PriceYes, the awesome graphics and slick game play were too good to be true. The app killedmy battery life. On a Galaxy Nexus my battery went down to four percent from 80 percent; in our testing the device got about six hours of video playback. My phone had also started to heat up.
Temple Run also crashed on me multiple times, all within a minute. I've read similar stories for the iPhone 4, though it seems to work fine for iPhone 4S users.
Temple Run is a good time on your Android device, offering an addictive, arcade-like experience and an entrée into a Twitter community of devotees. However, I won't be deleting Angry Birds until Temple Run's developers fix some serious bugs.

Jelly Bean the latest Android 4.1

Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of Google’s incredibly popular mobile operating system. As always, Google have continued with their traditional confectionery-based naming convention, and Jelly Bean will replace the current ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ 4.0 build of Android as the new top dog.

Despite the small step from version 4.0 to version 4.1, Jelly Bean is still quite a major upgrade to Android, providing a host of new features, performance improvements and design polish.
First Impressions
At first glance Jelly Bean looks remarkably similar to the previous version of Android. The home screen is almost exactly the same as before, apart from a different default wallpaper and some minor cosmetic changes to the ever-present ‘Google Search’ bar. These similarities quickly disappear once you begin using the OS.
Performance

As soon as you begin navigating your way around the system you can immediately feel a marked improvement in the overall performance of Android. The animations, menu interactions, improved touch response and overall ’snappiness’ of the OS have been dramatically improved. This is all thanks to a new initiative by Google called ‘Project Butter’, which aims to optimise performance of the Android user interface, making it leaner, faster and more responsive in every way. All that hard work has definitely paid off, Jelly Bean is buttery smooth.

Galaxy nexus Q Review

Design
A good-looking 4.6-inch, 2-pound black orb, the Nexus Q has a ring of LEDs around its diagonal equator and a single LED on the top of its axis from that equator. The LEDs change color to let you know what the device is doing, and for fun, the LEDs also cycle in time with the music you're playing. The top hemisphere of the orb spins to change the Nexus Q's volume, but otherwise there are no physical controls.

You need to use an Android smartphone or tablet to control the Nexus Q. Without it, the Q will only show a welcome screen with a drawing of the device and the URL for Google's Nexus website on your HDTV. Of course, even after you set up the Nexus Q, it won't show anything besides the volume level, any YouTube or Google Play video you stream from your phone, or the visualizer for any music you're playing. The device can easily work without any HDTV at all, putting sound through a home theater system or powering its own stereo speakers with its built-in 25-watt amp.
Hardware
It’s a two-pound beast, if you’re thinking about carrying it around, but since it’s designed to remain stationary – it doesn’t really matter how much it weighs. It’s also a sphere, or nearly a sphere, this allowing the Nexus Q to look and feel completely unique in a tech world saturated with rectangles and squares in the living room. The Nexus Q has a ring of LED lights around its center, this lovely display of color showing you the status of the device as well as indicating when its being touched.
