In its ongoing battle against Samsung, Apple may be forced to unveil a smaller, cheaper version of its flagship phone, says Strategy Analytic.

Will the iPhone get a baby brother?

Is an "iPhone Mini" on the horizon? Strategy Analytic analyst Neil Maws ton thinks so. But why?
Will the iPhone get a baby brother?
Samsung has been the clear winner in the smartphone wars, with Apple playing second fiddle. And that lead may wider further in 2013.
Maws ton expects Samsung to carve out a 33 percent chunk of the smartphone market this year, up from a projected 31 percent in 2012. At the same time, Apple's share will inch up to 21 percent from 20 percent last year. Samsung could sell as many as 290 million smartphones this year, while Apple is likely to sell 180 million i Phones.
The Korean handset maker has the edge over Apple in large part because it "plays in more segments," Maws ton told Reuters, allowing it to "capture more volume than Apple."
To fight back, Apple may try to win over a larger base of consumers by launching a smaller, cheaper variant of the iPhone, dubbed the "iPhone Mini" by the analyst.
With the iPhone 5 grabbing huge demand and sales, a low-end model may not be on Apple's agenda this year.

Angry Birds Star Wars Edition

Fans of the game just got their first look at the new “Star Wars” edition of Angry Birds. They only get to see 50 seconds of footage, but it gives them an idea of what to expect (check out the footage below). This video game is sure to bring in more fans of both the classic and the modern classic as Angry Birds face challenges in another world.

The Video
Luke is the red bird and Leia is the pink one of course, and Luke is showing off his saber skills to look impressive. However, this doesn’t seem to be working when Leia yawns.  Then it moves into another scene and shows the red bird using the lightsaber to slice through wooden structures.  Much more impressive!
Leia attacks an AT-AT Walking with red bullets; she has superpowers that enable her to have a magnetic-like pull with her lightsaber, which causes the AT-AT Walker to crash.
The Concept
Angry Birds Star Wars Edition will be available for the public on November 8th. Fans of either the game or the classic science fiction story will be excited to see what the combination brings.
Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. combined their efforts to create a unique combination in the video games. The Angry Birds are the stars of the show as characters from the film, while the storyline is classic Star Wars, along with the settings.
Rovio CMO Peter Vestrebacka told fans in a statement that this is the best Angry Birds game yet.
The powers of the different birds will be in keeping with their role in the movie. There will also be classic scenes that Star Wars fans will recognize; however, the game will stay true to Angry Birds, too.
The combination of the two elements will attract a new audience to the game. Star Wars fans will want to see what the game looks like while those who already love Angry Birds will be introduced to the classic movie. This could draw in a bigger crowd for both partners.
Angry Birds Star Wars will be able to work on almost any device, including Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Windows Phone, Mac, PC, and Windows 8.

MacBook Pro - Review

The new MacBook Pro with Retina Display was the big reveal at Apple's WWDCkeynote. Bringing the iPhone 4S and the new iPad 3's much-vaunted killer feature – their nonsensically high-definition screen -– to the Cupertino crew's notebook line, rather than the iMac desktops as many had suspected, it stood alone as an all-new product alongside refreshes of the MacBook Air and standard MacBook Pro lines.

Yet with ultrabooks such as the Asus Zenbook and HP Envy 14 Spectrebuilding on the success of the Apple MacBook Air, bringing compact power and flexibility to the affordable end of laptops, is a super-charged, super-priced portable chock full of the latest technological advancements aimed at professionals rather than hardcore gamers cumbersome and unnecessary?

To find out, we tested the entry-level £1,799, 2.3GHz version of the Apple MacBook Pro 2012 with 256GB hard drive, although there's also a 2.6GHz version of the Mac Book Pro with Retina Display with 512GB hard drive for £2,299, with greater custom specification also available.

Features

We'll talk about the screen later, but that's not all the new MacBook Pro has going on. First of all, it has wired and wireless connectivity down, from SDXC card support to 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The two speedy new USB 3 ports – one on each side as ever, handily – are also backwards compatible to USB 2, while two Thunderbolt ports, headphone jack and a single HDMI out complete the set.
To be honest, beyond a display, we still struggle to find things to put in our Thunderbolt holes and would have preferred it to fly solo, with a third USB taking its place. Yet the lack of FireWire or Ethernet access means you may be thankful for them as these can both be connected via Apple's Thunderbolt adaptors.
The new and improved 720p HD front-facing camera does a fine FaceTime/Skype job, but ironically its images and video look a bit washed out and degraded on the Retina Display's sharp screen.
AirPlay mirroring is responsive and reliable, and while our MacBook Pro packed the Retina-optimised Lion operating system, the upcoming Mountain lion OS is primed to raise the feature bar even further from July.
Yet what won’t be coming is an optical drive, which has been reduced, MacBook Air-style, to an external add-on. For something as purposefully entry-level as the Air, this seemed understandable, but on a professional notebook it will not be a view everyone shares.
